Arrive and heading to the last kingdom Kandy
On behalf of the all people of Sri Lanka I have the pleasure of receiving you very warmly to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. Kandy where we will be staying tonight will be our first destination. On the way to Kandy, you will be having such a thrilling experience at the Elephant orphanage in ‘Pinnawala’ where you get the stranded elephants in the wild. Also this is funded by the Sri Lankan government. You will find some elephants with born deformities staying here. All together there are about 90 elephants in the orphanage. You will also be able to feed them with milk while having a look at their bathing habits in the nearby stream.
Following lunch we will be heading towards Kandy. In the evening you will be thrilled to see the beauty of the ‘Peradeniya Botanical Garden’, which is supposed to be the most beautiful Botanical Garden in the whole of Asia where you will see about 4000 different spices of plant which includes the ones planted by different heads of states and governments during their official visits to Sri Lanka. The Botanical Garden is surrounded by the river ‘Mahaveli’ which is the longest river in the island. If time permits I am looking forward to accompanying you to the University of Peradeniya where I studies which is also one of the most beautifully located Universities in the world.

Though Tea plantations to Hill Country
Following our breakfast, we will make our way to Kandy city which is the second largest city in the present day Sri Lanka and also the last capital of the ancient Ceylon. Kandy has also been declared as a World Heritage City. Our first place of visit will be the temple of the sacred Tooth Relic which is of uttermost significance to all the Buddhists around the world and it is the pinnacle of the Buddhists of the island. Your next destination will give you a first-hand experience on the gems and jewellery craftsmanship in the island where you can hear a sound account of the history of gems and jewellery industry in the island.
Afterwards we will be travelling further to the central hills of the island where your eye would catch the beauty of lush tea plantations grown either side of the road whereby we are taken to the Ceylon Tea Factory which is quite popular around the world. I will not forget to take you to the tea estates where you can touch and feel the softness of the tiny tea leaves which can also be a pleasing experience. You will for sure see the gradual process of tea making and have the taste of a cup of satisfying and hearty fresh tea. Thereafter you will set your foot on the picturesque city of ‘Nuwara Eliya’ which is popularly known as the Little England. Nuwara Eliya is fondly called by the little England due to its cooler climatic conditions, specially preferred by the then British colonialists. The city is unique with its beautiful old buildings of which architecture has a direct semblance with that of the British. We will walk to the Grand Hotel built during the colonial period. Following an enjoyable dinner, amidst the coldness of the surrounding we can walk to the Gegari Lake.

High Tea After School Visit
Today early in the morning we will set off for a small school situated in the middle of a beautiful tea estate. The majority of the little children in the hill country lives under poverty. Most of my University batch mates teach in the schools in these areas. Therefore, with their mediation I can get the students who have financial difficulties into a classroom. I can introduce you those little children. Initially we will have to play a game with them which can supress their curiosity and uplift their enthusiasm. Thereafter I prefer if you can show them how you introduce yourself to another in your native language which is a quite interesting time, liked by all the children. I hope to invite them to sing a song for you. They may probably come individually or as a group. Before we leave the premises we all get together and sing together while eventually you taking little time to distribute those gifts which you brought from home among the children. In the evening we will meet over a cup of tea in the hotel courtyard. Dinner too will be here at the hotel.

In the afternoon our destination will be towards a small mountain which we hope to climb up and this is popularly known as the ‘Little Adam’s Peak’ situated within the ‘Ella’ town. The road along which we will walk is slightly narrow and its surrounding is full of scenic beauty where you can see the stretch of tea estates. Once you reach at the summit you will be taken by surprises to see the large and extended beautiful valley seen down. A lot of Sri Lankans ask me as to why the foreigners are hugely attracted by the beauty of ‘Ella’ where our today’s evening will be spent.
