Jaffna

Located at the northern tip of Sri Lanka, Jaffna; holds great memories of the island's past. Battered by the 30 years-long civil war that ended in 2009, Jaffna today is a checkpoint that you must visit if you visit Sri Lanka. Even though it is constructed up from its painful history visitors are still able to see the bullet holes and explosion craters that were created before 2009 during the civil war. When visiting Jaffna be sure to visit the famous Nallur Kandaswamy Hindu temple which has golden arches and a huge gopuram tower, the Jaffna Fort that was created by the Portuguese on the 17th century, the famous Jaffna Library, the archeological museum, and the Jaffna Market. be sure to explore the lagoons and the coastline if you visit.
