Dambulla Cave Temple

Consisting of 5 caves in total, Dambulla Cave temple is located on top of a 160 m rock. There are over 150 statues and murals of Lord Buddha and some of these dates back to more than 2000 years. According to the scriptures, Dambulla Cave temple was carved by King Valagamba's orders when he was taking refuge in these caves. A visit to this cave temple is a must when touring Sri Lanka.
