Arrival and Transfer to Colombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka, as you set foot on this Buddhist island, You will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide and travelling to the commercial capital and largest city Colombo. Once you reach Colombo a delightful city tour will be arranged. Places of interest such as Gangaramaya Temple, Independence Square, Galle Face Green, Fort area and Dutch Hospital will be included in this tour. Return to the hotel and get some rest in the afternoon. In the evening we will visit Kalaniya, the temple visited by Lord Buddha eight years after gaining enlightenment.

From Colombo to Sigiriya
After breakfast set off to Sigiriya via Kandy where the home of the Temple of the Buddha’s Tooth Relic. The journey from Colombo to Kandy, which will take approximately 3 hours. Kandy is the last bastion of Buddhist political power against colonial forces, the home of the Temple of the Buddha’s Tooth Relic. During the day you will be visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic and Kandy lake. Late afternoon on your way to Sigiriya en route visit Aluvihare Rock Cave Temple in Matale where the oral teachings of Buddhism (Tripitaka), were written into Pali on palm leaves.

Climb The Lion Rock and Cave Temple
After breakfast you will climb 8th Wonder of the World, “The Lion Rock” UNESCO World Heritage Site. A massive rocky plateau 370 meters above the sea level 260 meters above from the surrounding area. Buddhist monastic settlements were established in there during the 3rd century BCE. You will spend between 45 to 60 minuets to climb to the top of the rock and colourful frescoes, boulder gardens, terraced gardens, water gardens are the other major attractions you can see on the way. Late afternoon visits the Dambulla rock cave temple, which was built by king Valagambahu in the 1st Century BC. Dambulla is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanks’s cave temple with more than 80 documented caves,153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings,four statues of gods and goddesses.

Arrive to Ancient Buddhist Capital Pollonaruwa
After an early breakfast leave Sigiriya and to be arrived the second kingdom of ancient Sri Lanka “Polonnaruwa”. The journey will be about 1.5 hours approximately. Once you reach there firstly visit the Archaeological Museum of Polonnaruwa which is famed for being the starting point for the traveller looking to explore the ancient ruins of the Polonnaruwa Kingdom that thrived from the 11th Century AC to the 13th Century AC. Then we can explore the circular relic house (Vata-da-ge) Lankathilaka, Thuparama, Royal Palace, Rankoth vihara and Galvihara with the beautiful rock-cut Buddha statues are amazing works of art. After 2 hour drive you will arrive to the hotel in Anuradhapura.

Discover Buddhist Capital Anuradhapura
After breakfast you will visit Archaeological Museum of Anuradhapura and It is a rich source of information on the heritage and culture of the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Afternoon you visit the ruins of Mahavihara Monastery complex, Visits the Sacred Sri Maha Bo tree in Anuradhapura which is over 2200 years old and the oldest living tree of the whole world with a written history, Maha Stupa and Brazen palace.

From Anuradhapura to Negambo
After an early breakfast explore Mihintale Mountain Peak where the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, First scared Buddhist place with monastic education centre, Ambasthala terrace with Invitation rock, most ancient stupaa, Kantaka Chetiya, Refectory hall and ancient hospital. Afternoon leave north central region and set off to Negambo. The journey will be about 4 hours approximately.

Colombo to Airport and Departure
